Why sell to Don Olmstead? Here’s Why:
Operating under the name of Olmstead Currency since 1967, Don Olmstead offers the best prices for silver coins. For over 40 years Don has been buying old and rare coins, specializing in gold and silver coins. Don Olmstead is the chair of the Dealer Control Committee of the Canadian Association of Numismatic Dealers. Don says,
“To be successful in this business, it is paramount to treat all customers with the highest level of sincerity, honesty and clarity in regards to the value of their coins. I have seen many dealers appear in the field and then a year of two later disappear because they believed the way to be successful was through paying as little as possible to the customer. I can tell you from 40 years experience that the opposite, although not intuitive to all, is true.”
Don has built a solid and successful business with many repeat customers and very strong loyalty to Olmstead Currency.

(fill out the form below to have your collection appraised)
Pre-1969 Canadian and pre-1965 U.S. coins, along with ALL other silver coins. All silver is professionally graded before purchase. Our large volume of purchases allows us to offer high prices to our clients.
UNITED STATES COINS are silver to 1964 inclusive, excepting the penny and nickel of course!
CANADIAN and NEWFOUNDLAND COINS are silver to 1966 inclusive, then have a smaller silver content in 1967 and early 1968. The silver coins were phased out entirely in 1968 so there are silver and nickel coins in 1968. Unless you are certain how to separate the silver and nickel coins, it is best to ship all your 1968 coins and we will sort them for you.
WORLD COINS are silver to various dates but generally need to be pre 1960 unless they are cased special coins from various mints and specify in the packaging that they are indeed silver.
“Silver Coins” are almost never pure silver as that is too soft and wears out too fast. So the mints use an alloy with the silver, such as copper or nickel to harden them. Silver coins vary from 40% to 92.5% silver in circulating coins, and some mint special issues are pure silver. There is good value in silver world coins so be sure to include them.
As always, we offer FREE SHIPPING for your coins! Olmstead Currency will either reimburse you the cost of shipping, or give you our FexEx account number allowing you to send your shipment at no cost to you.

SILVER PRICES ARE HIGH.
NOW IS AN EXCELLENT TIME TO SELL.

WHAT NOT TO SHIP: There are a few coins frequently confused with silver that do NOT have value: pennies and nickels are made of copper and nickel; US coinage from 1965 and newer except Kennedy 50 cents 1965-68, so remember those Eisenhower “silver dollars” are not always silver. Also, unless in a special case; Canadian coins after 1969 are all made of nickel.
